There are many benefits to performing this posture. Some of the physical benefits include strengthening of the abdomen, ankles, thighs, and spine. It also stretches the groin, hamstring, calves, and quadriceps. In this pose one would open their heart's center bringing their shoulders back and into their spine to stretch the shoulder muscles. Ardha Chandrasana helps improve one's sense of balance and coordination for it is required to stand on one leg. Also, if this posture is done correctly, it would improve one's alignment of their body and lengthen their spine.
There are also many therapeutic benefits to performing this posture. It helps relieve anxiety and stress, as does many other yoga postures. When one is in Ardha Chandrasana, they are stretching their back keeping their spine in allignment and therefore helps with backaches and osteoporosis. This posture also helps with fatigue because it take quite a bit of concentration to focus one's energy and surrender to the pose, making one less tired and able to regain energy. It is also said to help with indigestion and menstrual pain because one is pivoting their hips and stretching their groin. Overall, this posture has many physical and therapeutic benefits.
